A cold front moved in Friday morning bringing snow flurries to central North Carolina.
Friday brought another round of winter weather to central North Carolina.
Twice in one week in the middle of November we will be dealing with flurries and light snow, this time for the Friday morning commute.
Accumulations will be very minor, if at all and should only show up in grassy areas, elevated surfaces and maybe even a few cars. Road and concrete surfaces are still well above freezing, so there should not be an impact to commuters.
In addition to snow, Friday will also bring another round of extremely cold temperatures. After seeing highs Thursday soar into the mid-50s, Friday's high temperature will be lucky to reach into the mid- to lower-40s. Northwesterly winds between 10-20 miles per hour and gusting above 25 miles per hour will keep wind chills throughout the day in the 30s.
The excitement of November snow will be tempered with temperatures 20 degrees below normal and wind chills that won't get out of the 30s.
This winter forecast comes the same day the Climate Prediction Center issued its official winter outlook for the upcoming season. The outlook calls for near normal temperatures and a small chance of winter being drier than normal.
Despite that news, this year's outlook for North Carolina is actually colder and wetter than the outlooks of the past two years.
